Cursed

For probably the last year or so I have bought my morning coffee from the same coffee cart on the corner by my building. I know some of you also have a "relationship" with your coffee guy and its a big commitment, so you'll understand. As faithful as I am to him, there are times when I cheat. When I woke up this morning I thought about stopping at Starbucks to get a gingerbread latte (yummy!). And then I thought about the consequences. What happens if the coffee guy sees me when I walk into the building? Will he notice the festive holiday Starbucks cup in my hand and say something tomorrow and make it weird when we exchange our morning pleasantries? I decided to go nuts, be a rebel and hit Starbucks. Almost $6 later I was on the way to the office and the coffee kept leaking on to my hand and spilling on to my clothes. It wasn't too messy, but I can't help but wonder if it was bad karma from cheating on him? So when I approached the building I prayed that he would have someone on line so he wouldn't see me, he did, and I quickly walked past him trying to push my hair to the side and hide my face as best I could. I guess we'll find out tomorrow if it worked, but something tells me that my puffy white jacket might have given me away.
On a happier note, I just got to talk to my niece to tell her I had a very special surprise for her. I told that this Saturday I was taking her to see Princesses on Ice--she sounded thrilled. She asked what day it was today and how long she would have to wait. I told her how many days and she said "ok, because I need to get some stuff ready". By stuff I have a feeling she means packing her princess pocket book and gathering a few necessities which I'm sure includes a light up toy of some sort. I then told her that Uncle Frankie would be coming too and she sounded relieved. When I asked why, she told me "because he's the one who brings us the food and stuff so we don't have to miss anything". That kid is one smart cookie.
