Getting Organized

Rachel and Chuck gave me and Frankie a kick ass gift for the house yesterday! Anybody who knows me knows that I love things in my home to be neat and organized, sometimes to the point of being completely...well I guess anal would be a good word. So when Rachel gave me this Home Maintenance Binder yesterday I was so excited! It has everything in it--a calendar for each season (up until like 2011) so I can keep track of my big Spring cleanings, a tool glossary, graph paper for mapping out rooms, a home repair checklist so I know how often things need to be replaced, task lists, project worksheets, budget grids...I could go on and on! It was the perfect gift and it matches so well with my OCD.

Oh No No No

Britney...what did you do?

Pics

Here's some, but they are not great. I will take better ones. Just to sum it up there's the staircase, back room (or the breakfast nook as I like to call it--yeah I'm a dork), the dining room, two shots of my bedroom closet (I love it!!!), my kitchen windows, the back deck, and the entrance way into the living room.
It turns out that my mom was right, as always. As soon as all of the furniture was gone from the house we noticed more things that needed to be touched up. Which is fine of course, just a little unexpected. Frankie has been painting day and night and I have made several trips for supplies. I am officially Home Depot's bitch.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered...I'm Poor!

Well its official...Frankie and I are home owners! I can't believe it. All that time it took and it's finally ours...well, it's actually the bank's for the next 30 years, but who's counting? Pics to come!

A Hero In My Books

My brother, one of NY's Bravest, saved a cat from a burning building yesterday. He brought the cat out, and placed it on the sidewalk (nobody wanted to take it) so he could go back into the building. The cat was breathing and moving.
A little later, an article appeared on Staten Island's news website.
This article. Wow talk about getting screwed. It's really great that the cop gave the cat mouth to mouth and received almost all the credit. Call me crazy, but if Rob didn't get the cat out, "Baby" would have been Chinese food. Sorry for being so blunt, but its true. While the article does give some credit to the firefighters, I think its still bullshit. And no, I'm not just being vocal about it because it is my brother.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the NYPD does not have a tough job and that this officer should not receive any credit, I think what she did was wonderful. I just think that in this particular situation running into a burning building, risking smoke inhalation, burns and possibly worse, is a little more heroic than risking a hair ball.
