Stressed

Went to the doctor yesterday because I haven't been feeling too great. Turns out it's stress. Shocking! I'm tired, yet I can't sleep and my whole body is so tense it hurts. My neck mostly. So the nice doctor gave me some lovely muscle relaxers. Nothing like some good drugs to get you through the night. I slept so peacefully last night for the first time in a while, with no harsh side effects! Wow, I should do commercials. So today I woke up feeling a little better and when I walked outside and saw the sunshine and felt the warm breeze, my day got even better!

Another One Bites the Dust

So yesterday DK said goodbye to Jay after almost six years. Sad, yes, but we got to party! A big group of us headed to a local bar Antarctica to celebrate after work. It was fun, but best of all, free! They decided to run a company tab which totally rocked. I didn't get home until almost midnight though and now I'm pretty tired, but not bad considering. It was nice to blow off some steam with the DK crew since we've all been working our asses off lately.
I spent last week in Boston working another show, and it just starts to catch up with you after a while. Plus, when you're out of the office like that, the work just really starts to pile up and it sucks. I think I'm going to need to plan a vacation soon.

Rock On!

Trisha sent me the coolest email yesterday. Somewhere in this picture there are references to 75 bands. Can you find them all? Click on the picture to make it bigger and be prepared, you're going to get addicted to this. Good luck!

Happy Birthday Kim!

Kim turned 30 this weekend and had a great party to celebrate! Lori picked Lolita on the lower east side for the spot- great choice. We had our own private party room (and bathroom) until 11pm and the drinks were pretty cheap. It was so good to see Kim and it really looked like she had a great time which made us all so happy. Lots of people were there and it seemed like everybody had fun. I even brought the folks to come and celebrate since they absolutely adore Kim (who doesn't?). Mom had two Black Russians and then it was time to cut her off. Dad unfortunately had to drive so he couldn't really drink and Frank the Tank drank more than I've seen him drink in years, he is quite hung over at the moment. I have to give props to Lori who did an awesome job of setting everything up and getting embarrassing pics of Kim and fun Kim trivia that she placed on little notecards throughout the room. It really was a great time. But now the hard part is coming in a few days...having to say goodbye to Kim again. But I'm not going to think about that now, I'm just going to soak up two more days of Kimmy.

Torn

Today was a bad day. First, I got zero sleep last night. We have new people living in the apartment on the second floor and I swear I haven't slept since they moved in. All we hear is the sound of one of them walking around- late at night and early in the morning- and we're not just talking about a light walk, it sounds like a great big animal stomping around. I know I'm a light sleeper but even Frankie was wide awake for this last night and this morning. It wasn't pleasant. And the fact that we are friends with the two girls who live there doesn't make it any easier. Frankie said he talked to one of them today- let's hope they took him seriously and I can get some sleep tonight.
Then I went to my usual subway station to cash in my transit checks and get my metrocards for the month. The Houston Street 1 and 9 station no longer has clerks that can take money! They are now simply there as an information booth. Now I need to find somebody who goes to a subway station with a real live clerk who can sell metrocards to cash in my transit checks and get my card each month. The MTA sucks!
So now I go into the office and here is the kicker of the day. I sit down and notice there is a rip in the inside seam of my pants. I knew I felt a breeze earlier. So what do I do now? Sit at my desk all day and try to hide it? I could feel that it was because the stitch was loose which meant it was only going to grow as the day went on. So I emailed a few people to see who had a sewing kit. Luckily Rachel suggested Jennifer who happened to have one. So now I have the sewing kit in my hand and it hits me...I can't sew. Anybody who knows me knows that I am not exactly the domestic type. So I gave it my best shot. There I was, sitting in my office with the door closed, no pants on and late for a meeting...it would have made for a great episode of The Office. Luckily I was able to sew the pants (and I have to admit- I did a pretty good job). But of course I spent a good part of the day staring down in between my legs to make sure it didn't rip again.
The good part of today? Yes, something good did happen. I have a new baby cousin! My cousin Suzanne gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Sean Michael Irving was born this afternoon and weighed in at a little over 6 pounds and 20 inches long. So congrats to Sean and Suzanne! Baby Sean is the first of two cousins to be born this year. All I know is my mom is going to have to buy alot of pajamas this Christmas.

Home Again

Well once again I have returned from another trip in a storm. Flight wasn't too bumpy considering, but what killed me this time was when they kept us in a holding pattern for about an hour and we just went around in circles. Not cool at all.
So, I arrived in Jacksonville Monday after a short flight delay and had a four and a half hour drive ahead of me to Panama Beach City. I was sort of excited to check it out since the Today Show did a story on how it's an up and coming vacation destination. If you've never listened to me before, listen to me now- don't waste your time. It wasn't bad, but I would certainly never vacation there. Nothing to do, nothing to see. And get this...they're an hour behind New York time. I had no idea that there would be a time change in Florida. I thought it was a joke at first, but it was nice to get an extra hour of sleep after the long drive. So after all that I am now home safe and sound. Looking at the schedule ahead, things don't look too bad for the near future. Boston at the end of the month and then I think I get a little traveling break until the end of April depending if they send me to Houston or not (let's hope not).
So I have now finished unpacking and I am ready to face the office tomorrow. I'm sure it will be a zoo...
