Pebbles

Most people have cats or dogs as pets, but not me- I always had rabbits. They're cute, fuzzy and simply adorable. How could you not love 'em? So after a long day at work, I walked in the house to a phone call from my mom. Poor thing, she had to break the news to me that my little buddy Pebbles had died earlier that day. We've had Pebbles for about 6 or 7 years (a very long lifespan for a domestic rabbit). When I moved out four years ago I couldn't have pets in the apartment so I had to leave him home with my parents, which totally sucked for me and them. I would visit him and take care of him as often as I could, but now of course I have that guilty feeling like I didn't do it enough. And even though he would bite my mom's curtains and chew on her furniture, I know they are going to miss him as much as I will.

21 Years and Still Kickin' Ass

Went to go see my Jersey boys last night and man did they kick ass! Even if you're not into Bon Jovi this show is a guaranteed good time! They played lots of new stuff and tons of the old stuff that the crowd went nuts for. In fact it was so good that my friend Jenn has an extra ticket to tomorrow night's show and I have just graciously accepted her offer. Woo hoo!

So after I got home from the show I waited all night to see what was gonna happen with the strike (not that it mattered because I had off today). I knew it was gonna happen this time. I feel horrible for all of the commuters but I have to say I feel really bad for the employees, mainly my dad. Even though they have to picket and support the strike, trust me for the amount of money that they have to pay back, these guys do not want to strike. And Christmas week? How bad does that suck? But I guess if my parents survived it back in 1980 with a 3 year old and an 11 year old right before Christmas, they can do it again.

Tis the Season!

So it's December 14th and ask me how much shopping I have done. Not much at all. Where does the time go? I have totally lost track of it being away on all my wonderful business trips. So it looks like tonight I'm going to have to hit the stores. Whatever I don't get there I'll head on over to Amazon and see what I can get on there. Tomorrow is the last day to order for regular delivery so I need to get my ass in gear. At least work is dead so I've been able to do a little online shopping while sitting at my desk- talk about productivity huh? I do love this time of year at work though. It's almost like being in school again. You know how you used to do nothing right before Christmas, it was all arts and crafts and fun stuff like that? Well that's sort of how this week has been going. I hope it stays that way.

Our Nation's Capital

Well just returned from another wonderful business trip, this time to Washington DC. Raquel and I made it a road trip, heading out on Tuesday morning and getting back sometime around 8 last night. The show we worked was horrible, so we were very thankful for the fun vendors that were near us...all except Peter and Ellen. OH MY GOD, can you say torture? Peter and Ellen are a hokey married couple from Massachusetts who specialize in creating children's music. Think of Paula and Carol from the Magic Garden times 10! Well for four days Raquel and I had to listen to their music being blasted on 2 huge speakers. After the 10th time of hearing hits such as Pizza Pizzazz, Here we go Zudio All Night Long and Going to the Library we were ready to shoot ourselves. Oh did I mention that the 10 times we heard each song was only the first day? Oh yes that's right, it was the same songs over and over again. They even had little dances that went with each song and the teachers were all over it! Peter and Ellen had groupies! Although annoying it did get very entertaining at times. I even took a little video of it on my cell phone just for kicks. On the last day Raquel and I decided to take a tally of how many times we heard each song. Here's how it went, the Shalom Song came out ahead with being played 7 times, followed by what we like to refer to as the Sleepy Song with six times and tied for second was the Colors Song. Other hits included the Days of the Week Song and the Bumble Bee Song. Raquel and I being the comedians that we are, had fun with it dancing and singing along, but some of the guys we were hanging out with around us were getting really loud and obnoxious about it, which if I was Peter and Ellen I would have turned up the speakers just to piss them off more (I guess that would be the smart ass in me).
Besides working the show all week, we did have some time to see the sights. Since the show was dead for us Raquel and I split one day so I had the whole afternoon off. I walked around the whole city (and almost walked to Virginia- don't ask). I got to see the Capital, White House, WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. I also walked in and out of a few of the Smithsonian Museums focusing on specific things I wanted to see like the Hope Diamond and Dorothy's Ruby Slippers. Both very cool and something I always wanted to do. So I guess the trip wasn't a total waste. I'm just happy that I'm off the hook traveling for work for a while.

Boca Boca Boca

Well once again, it's been a while. I just came back from sales conference in Boca Raton. Sounds fancy? Trust me, it's not. Although it wasn't too stressful, it's boring. Long days in conference room, organized dinners and the same old hotel convention food for 4 days. I can totally think of much better ways to spend my time, but we had to go. We did have some laughs though.

I am now getting ready to go to NAEYC in Washington DC for pretty much all of next week. After that, my traveling days will be over for a while at least...I count the days.
