Breaking Ground

All my life I have always wanted a finished basement. Nothing fancy, just a simple place where everyone could hang out and something that could be used as a play area should there be children in our future. When we bought the house I said that would be one of the first things we would do. But it seemed like something that was so far away and might never happen.
Well today its happening. Frankie and my dad just returned from Home Depot and my basement is filled with sheetrock, studs and 2x4's and I am filled with excitement!

Kudos!

I just have to throw out a huge congrats and best wishes to my good friend Trisha who just finished her last week of nursing school! I have never seen anybody study harder over the last few years and I am so happy for her and so incredibly proud! Trish--you've had so many hurdles to overcome the last few years, and this is going to be the big payoff! Such awesome news, you worked so hard for this!
And now comes the most exciting part--celebrating!!!

Just Peachy

After a 2-hour delay today at the airport, I am happy to say that I am home from yet another business trip. Destination: Atlanta. I've been there once before and wasn't too impressed. This time was better. In between work, I had a visit to the aquarium and had a delightful time watching the seal lions get fed and have their teeth brushed--it was adorable! I was also able to catch a Braves' game with Susan (who is an excellent travel companion) and her brother-in-law and his friends who live out there. Even though I am a Mets fan, and felt like a big traitor, we had a good time. Nice weather and good, cold beers always make for a good time. The only think missing from the trip was that there was not a single peach to be found! One day at breakfast they tried to pass off some canned peaches in syrup, so not the same!
But now its back to reality. I came home to find our kitchen sink has a leak. How long has it been leaking? Not sure. All I know is there was a nice big puddle there for me and my counter top has bubbled up. And not that I'm blaming anybody for not noticing, but let's just say this didn't just happen....oh well. Thank god for my dad who is the family's own personal Schneider and can fix anything! Glad I picked him up a present while I was away.

Loving It

Last night I finished Losing It, the Valerie Bertinelli book. Being a Van Halen fan I was so looking forward to reading it hoping to get some behind the scenes info on Eddie and the band and what really went on, and that's exactly what I got! Losing It is more like a biography on Eddie rather than her autobiography--and I loved every second of it! Don't get me wrong, there weren't really any big surprises. We all know that a metal band in the 80's = sex, drugs and rock 'n roll, but she did cut a little deeper into the surface. I also developed a new liking for her. Not that I didn't like her before (let's face it I like a good Lifetime movie as much as the next guy), but I just never really gave her much thought. Although I found her a bit annoying at times (if I hear the name Wolfie one more time I might scream), overall she seems pretty down to earth and never tried to sugar coat the mistakes she has made in her life which I found pretty admirable. All in all, a good read.
