Billionaire Spending $43...Priceless

Is Mayor Bloomberg an idiot? Sorry if you're a fan of his, but I find the man to be a huge moron.

While catching up on my daily Staten Island news and events, I came across this article
The Mayor Likes a Good Bargain.

I would really like to know what kind of point he is trying to prove by having TV cameramen and photographers follow him around while he spends a whopping $43 on T-shirts for his daughters? Is that supposed to make us feel better somehow? Are we all supposed to run out and take advantage of this one tax free week a year? While I do love to save money, I just find it to be a huge headache.

The whole purpose of this week is to help families save some money with back to school shopping. Since most kids go back to school on Tuesday and tons of people take advantage of this last vacation week, how many people really do their shopping now? Don't get me wrong, when I have kids I'm sure I'll be one of those parents who does everything at the last minute (like I do now), and maybe I'll appreciate it more then. It just seems to me that the city would make a bigger profit on holding their precious tax free week a bit earlier. Or maybe at Christmas time?

Sorry, for the venting. You have to understand that this comes from a bitter Staten Islander who has to pay the city $10 a day to get back and forth to work and still have MTA surcharges on several of my utility bills. So to have to read about Mayor Bloomberg's "Big Shopping Extravaganza", it just pisses me off. I want Rudy back...

Potty Humor

Happy Tuesday everybody!

I just had to put a post up about my good friends Trisha and Timmy who had a story run in the Staten Island Advance this week. After a long battle with Ulcerative Colitis, Timmy had to have a major surgery in July. Happy to say that he is recovering and doing well! Check out
Timmy and Trisha's Story . Trisha has been doing a kick ass job to help raise awareness for this disease that so many people don't know about. I happen to know about it because my mom suffers from Crohn's.

Which brings me to my point. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation sponsors a small walk in October. Check out
Crohn's and Colitis Walk for more info. It's a pretty small foundation (but growing every year) and the walk was really nice last year. I'll be there and if anybody is free and would like to come, we would love to see you there!

Later....

Weekend Update!

Yuck, it's Monday.

But it was a good weekend...very relaxing for once.

Friday was a girls' night with Silvia and Jenn. First I hung out while Jenn and Silvia both got their hair cut and highlighted. Then we ordered Chinese food, made cupcakes and watched a total chick flick,
The Wedding Date. Now, you will never meet three girls who appreciate a cheesy chick flick more than the three of us, but this movie sucked. No humor, no plot...nothing. Very disappointing.

Saturday was dinner with Rhiana and her new husband Nick. It was fun. We had Mexican night! Rhiana made tacos and I made Sangria. It was my first time making it and I have to say it was quite tasty! And strong! I did a search online and somehow found thousands of Sangria recipes that were totally different so I made up my own. And I'm still alive to talk about it so I guess it was OK!

Sunday was nothing, nada...and it was great! After a day of totally bumming out, I decided to watch the VMA's at night. After about one long hour of what turned out to be "The Diddy Show" I couldn't take it anymore. Besides, why do they even have an awards show anymore? MTV hasn't played a video in about 5 years! It's all reality TV. I didn't even know bands made videos anymore. Whatever happened to the good old days where you could watch midgets running around doing the Safety Dance?

Day 1

Well I said I would never do it. I guess I lied. That's right folks, I'm starting a blog. Why? Well, first of all, it's maily because I can't fall asleep right now. But believe it or not, there's alot running around in this head of mine and I was thinking that sometimes it helps to get it all out. Plus it gives my friends something to read while bored at work.

Will I be a good blogger like my dear friend Rachel Pink? No way.
Will I write something everyday? I highly doubt it.

First, for those of you who have never met me, let me give you the 411...
Sex: Love it (oh, I mean Female)
Age:27
Location: Staten Island, NY (Home of the Wu-Tang Clan and the famous Fresh Kills Landfill)
Occupation: Marketing Department at a Publishing Company in NYC
Marital sates: Married (No children)
Likes: Traveling, shopping, dancing (not so good at it, but hey, after a few drinks no one seems to notice), hanging out with my niece and nephew, going to concerts, reading and just hanging out with my girlfriends.
Dislikes...Smelly people, stupid people, liars, snakes, spiders and heights.

Where does the blog title Jovi-al come from you ask? Well, here's the deal. You probably will never meet a bigger Bon Jovi fan than me. Yes, I know most of you probably think it's totally uncool to admit that, but I love my Jersey boys. If I could, I would totally still wear my Slippery When Wet t-shirt, ripped jeans and spray a can of Aquanet in my hair if I could. But I would probably look like a big dork . But I promise you this blog will not be Bon Jovi 24/7.

Well I guess that's it for now. Feeling a little sleepy. Hopefully I'll remember to keep this up, and maybe somebody will actually read it!
