MTA...Not Going My Way

I woke up this morning and for the first time in a while I was going to be on time for work, wait make that early. I got on the bus and there wasn't even traffic. So there I was all nice and comfy, spread out on the bus since nobody was sitting next to me, and taking my morning nap. I wake up in my usual spot right before we enter the tunnel, and a cop pulls the bus over, which is never good. Apparently something was sticking out of the side of the bus, so we couldn't go through the tunnel because it would have caused damage since the lanes are so tight. So now the driver tells us all we have to get off the bus. So here we are, 30+ people all standing in the middle of the tunnel toll plaza with cars whizzing by waiting to get on a new bus. Now the bus driver tells the cop to stop anything going downtown. Idiot, not all of us are going downtown. An x1 pulls up...perfect, except there's barely any room to even stand and the driver won't let me on. He tells me to get on the x3 that had just pulled up along side him. I nicely tried to explain to him several times that bus doesn't go where I need to go. So I got off and waited with a few others for a bus we could take. A man was nice enough to get off the x1 for me and switch to the x3, but like three people ran in front of me before I could even get near it and then the driver yelled at me. Like what was I supposed to do, knock the people over? So with about 6 of us left that still needed to get a bus, we sat in the original bus and waited to avoid getting hit by the incoming traffic. While waiting the cop got on the bus to take a head count and ask what specific buses we could take. Then he made me laugh by saying "those damn mechanics at the bus garage really need to get on these things". Yeah dad, could you get on it so I can get to work on time?

And in This Corner...

My neighbor went crazy and I missed it. I'll try to keep a long story short. Basically I've hated this bony-ass bitch since the day she moved in and started baking my husband cookies. That's right...baked my husband cookies, but would look the other way when she saw me. The first week her and her boyfriend moved into the apartment next door, I tried to be neighborly and introduce myself. She was nice that day, but never said a word to me again. At first I took it for shy, but then I realized when she would talk to Frankie and not me, she's just a big old bitch. But even though we all know I have a short temper, I never let it get to me, instead I just ignored her. I really tried to avoid any confrontation with someone I have to live next door to. I tried to tell Frankie and his little daytime posse (my uncle who fixes cars in the backyard and his helper Patrick- that sounds very white trash but it's actually a nice set up) that she was crazy, and they didn't believe me. They see her all the time during the day when they are out there working and always said she was so nice.
So yesterday I get home from work and the phone is ringing and there's a knock on my door. Everybody wanted to tell me first. The girl has a set of windchimes that hangs from her front door which is not far from my bedroom window. I am not exaggerating when I tell you they are loud and annoying. And it's been so nice out that I would like to sleep with the window open, but can't because of the noise. I'm not the only one. Lots of people on the block have also been annoyed by them. So my uncle (my landlord) told her landlord that they need to go. He had no problem with it and said he would tell her. Well, she went nuts yesterday. I'm talking about a 5'1", 100lb. girl attacking my 6'5", 300+lb. uncle. Screaming, cursing, threatening...just ballistic. I can't believe I missed it. And it's only gonna get worse from here. She's already threatened to damage property- I'm just not sure if she means my house, my uncle's house or if she'll do it where it hurts most....mine or Frankie's car. Trust me, she was lucky enough that I wasn't home the other day because I would have beat her if she came anywhere near me- I've put up with alot from her and I'm pretty much at my limit. BUT...if she goes near my car, there's a good chance she will never be heard from again. I swear, this crap only happens in Staten Island.

Have a Nice Day!

I am having a nice day! Woke up this morning, sun was shining and I took a gamble on a pair of jeans that haven't fit in a while. Low and behold, they fit! Don't get me wrong, they're kind of tight, but I didn't care.
Then it was off to work for some more good news. I got the email I was waiting for- Summer tour dates for Bon Jovi. Woo hoo! I was so afraid it would be on dates when I would be away for work, but it's not. And the day is getting better! As I am typing this I just received the email for the presale with the code. I think I might need to play the lottery....

Egg-citing Weekend

Yes, I know that was a really cheesy title.
Happy Easter tomorrow everybody! Hope the Easter bunny brings you lots of good treats!
Yesterday was a long day, but a good one. Took the day off from work to visit Frankie's family in PA and we brought Grace along to play with our two nieces that live up there. They played games, watched movies and colored eggs. It was so much fun to see them all together, totally adorable.
At night it was party time! Headed over to the yacht club for Rich and Mon's bon voyage party. This was probably our last time to say goodbye before they head off to Hong Kong for two years. I hope I'll get a chance to visit them out there, but something tells me I can't handle a flight that long. The party continued all night. After drinks and apps at the yacht club the family (me, Frankie, Rob, Liz, Rich and Monica) headed over to Rhythm and Brews. A local bar that's actually fun! Yes, Staten Island has a fun bar! One of the guys from my brother's firehouse is in a band that was playing there. If you're ever in Staten Island and they're doing a show, check them out-
Lala's Basement. They were so much fun and did lots of great covers!
Tonight we're heading out to see some friends we haven't seen in a few years which we are so excited about.
Until next time my friends...

Sickie

Took a sick day today. Didn't feel so great this weekend and woke up with a sore throat, so I thought it was the best thing to do. Weekend was very low key. Friday, nada. Saturday, woke up did some cleaning and took a nap. In the middle of my nap Frankie came in and asked if I would mind if he went to PA with the guys (the "guys" being my uncle and his friends) to go to the race track. I didn't mind at all. I knew I wouldn't really be up for anything that night so why make him suffer too? Besides, I think the last night he went out with the guys was probably his bachelor party in 2001. I was so proud of him that he went. Let's face it, we all nights like that. In fact, I try to convince him to do it more often and this time he did. After he left, I got a quick pedi which gave me some time to read and relax. Then I came home watched a movie and crashed. It was nice. It actually might have spoiled me a bit. Don't get me wrong, I totally missed him since we hardly ever see each other, but when you don't feel good, it's nice to be alone.
Of course I did check email today while I was home, otherwise I would spend all day wondering if I missed anything important. But I'm glad I did...I found out AR and Amy got engaged this weekend! I figured it was coming but wasn't sure when. So congrats to them, very exciting news.
Now, it's time to go lay down again and rest. I'm sure tomorrow I will be plenty busy playing catch-up.
